Job Advert

Since 2017, with the introduction of the Homeless Reduction Act, Local authorities were required to further develop their Prevention and Relief of homelessness by introducing additional statutory duties to assist all who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  With the Rough Sleeper Initiative (RSI) funding introduced in 2018 this was extended to provide a bespoke young person’s outreach navigation service, aimed at reducing the levels of young people sleeping rough in the city.

St Basils has been commissioned to deliver the Rapid Rehousing Youth Navigator to provide a service to young people found to be rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping in Birmingham.

The main purpose of the role is:

  • To engage with rough sleepers to enable risk and needs assessments to be carried out to identify and manage any risks and needs identified.
  • To support young people to remain in their home or secure alternative suitable accommodation to prevent rough sleeping.
  • To work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies in order to ensure needs are met.
  • To cultivate positive social circles and be better equipped to maintain their accommodation and independence and avoid returning to the street.
  • To support young people in their recovery to find employment, undertake training and develop budgeting skills.

In return for your skills and experience, St Basils are able to offer the following benefits:

  • 28 days annual leave plus 8 Statutory Bank Holidays per annum, pro rata
  • Childcare, cycle to work and life assurance schemes
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Wellbeing Support
  • Long Service awards
  • Health Scheme
  • Free Mandatory Training
  • Enhanced DBS check and renewal covered by St Basils
  • National Express Discount
  • Technology Scheme Vouchers
  • Shopping, Leisure and Day Out discounts

Please see the applicant Information Pack for a list of further requirements.
